Harvest Break

I thought I'd start with the pics and then tell a little about what we've been doing.

Elora and Taylan playing together on the swing set.

Uncle Darren looking cool during General Conference. He was playing around with a new hair style. Check out his cool shirt.

Elora getting caught picking in the frosting for Uncle Wade's birthday cake.

Dressed up in her favorite dress-up dress.

Chilling with Uncle Darren. Yes, that is frosting on Taylan's cheek.

Elora and Taylan's favorite place to play. They love to sit at the end of the sidewalk and throw rocks or pick the grass.

Up close for a picture.

The "sandbox" in the Kid Zone at the Blackfoot Fair. This is about all they wanted to do in the Kid Zone even though there were other things to do as well. Petting the goats in the petting zoo at the Blackfoot Fair.

I love how Taylan "pets" the goat. It's a good thing that these goats were very good natured.

Daddy and Elora at the Fair. They had those hats when I was a kid.

Mommy and the kids waiting to get an ice cream cone. We also tried funnel cakes and had corn dogs. The kids seemed to enjoy all there was to see.

Goodbye hugs at Darren's Homecoming/Kent's Farewell.

The kids loved to play with the neighbor's cat during the homecoming/farewell dinner. The cat liked to stay around because it was being fed. My parents didn't like that as much.

At the Sugar-Salem Homecoming football game.

Taylan loved being at the game. He really got into clapping even though he didn't know what he was clapping for. Cute story about Elora. When they announced the homecoming royalty, she turned to me and said, "Mommy, look at the pretty princesses." Just a little after that, Jana came and asked her if she wanted to go meet the princesses, to which she eagerly responded yes. So Elora got to meet the princesses and gave them all a kiss as well.

This chair has been nicknamed the "cheese" chair. Everytime we are in our bedroom, the kids climb in this chair and start saying, "cheese!" They did this for several days straight and wanted us to take pictures each time. Here are two of the many. I have loved being home again with my kids. It has been fun to be able to play with them. Taylan is at the stage where he will repeat anything anyone says. He is starting to pick up on Elora's phrase, "I don't want to." I'm just glad he doesn't know what it means, yet. He has also said happy birthday, mommy, daddy, tree, grandma, grandpa, Elora, etc. It is so fun to see how he is growing. I'm afraid that he might be starting into the tantrum phase, though. I hope that it doesn't last long and that we can help him through it fast. Lately he has become a bottomless pit! He is always getting into the fridge and pulling food out. He has been caught carrying around a package of hot dog buns while munching on one of them. He will also pull out the food and put it all on the table. It is because of this that we bought a lock to put on the fridge. Sometimes he will climb into his high chair and start to buckle himself in to let us know he is hungry. Today, he climbed up on the ottoman, got down a bottle of scented oil, and somehow managed to open it even though it has a child-proof (ya right) lid and spilled it all over himself and the ottoman. Our house smelled so strong, that it was starting to make me sick. I just hope I got it out of the ottoman well enough.
Elora is growing up more and more each day. She is a very smart young girl and loves to sing and dance. We bought a Fisher Price cd that she loves to listen to in the car. She knows almost all of the songs and sings along. There have even been times that she will break out into song in the middle of a store, which can be embarrassing at times. She is getting better at sharing with Taylan. She loves to play with him. Elora has learned a lot of her letters and sounds already. She likes to tell us what different things start with and loves to watch movies that teach her more about her abc's and reading.
During harvest we had the opportunity to can beets at grandma and grandpa's, go to Utah for Talia's birthday party and Caiya's baby blessing, and clean our house. We have plans to make some bean bag toss games (for the Elementary Carnival coming up), finish some home projects and just have fun together. We will see what gets done.
